Art
Welcome to our Art & Design page
Art is not what you see, but what you make others see. - Edgar Degas
Art is standing with one hand extended into the universe and one hand extended into the world, and letting ourselves be a conduit for passing energy. -Albert Einstein
To be an artist is to believe in life - Henry Moore
At Oakfield, we believe that Art is an essential part of the broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum. Art and design is a means by which we can develop our children’s creativity and imagination. By developing children’s creativity we hope to inspire and motivate them, and we want to ensure they receive their full entitlement to high quality arts and design.
At Oakfield we follow the KAPOW scheme of work. This scheme of work is exciting, engaging and ensures progression throughout each topic. Each lesson links to the National Curriculum objectives and builds in key vocabulary and skills! We also look at a broad range of inspiring artists and craftspeople.
Our curriculum encorporates the key elements of Art & Design:
- Making: painting, drawing, printing, creating 2 & 3D art and crafting
- Generating ideas and taking inspiration from a range of artists and crafts people
- Formal elements: colour, form, line, pattern, shape, texture and tone
- Knowledge of artists' work and techniques
- Evaluating: critiquing their own work and that of others
