Bienvenue to Oakfield’s Modern Foreign Language
At Oakfield Community Primary School, we believe that the learning of a language provides a valuable educational, social, and cultural experience for our pupils. It helps them to develop communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with an aim of making substantial progress in one language. In addition, children’s knowledge of how language works will be developed to lay the foundations for further language learning in the future. We believe that learning another language gives children a new and broader perspective on the world, encouraging them to understand their own cultures.
We use Language Angels lessons to support the teaching of Spanish across the school. They are based around interactive PowerPoints with all instances of the foreign language pre-recorded using a native speaker and fully controlled by the teacher. The pre-recorded target language provided ensures excellent pronunciation from the children.
All Language Angels units have a fantastic range of self-correcting, fun and stimulating interactive games. Separate login details are provided so pupils can access the games remotely from home.
Songs and raps are provided throughout the resources. They consolidate and help cement the language in the children’s memories.
