Resource Bases

At Oakfield we are in the fortunate position of having four Resource Bases, offering various support within Key Stage 1 and a Key Stage 2, for children with speech, language and communication needs.

1. EYFS/KS1 Dual Resource Base: 14 allocated spaces for children on dual school placements. 7 children attend a two day placement across the week. The Resource Base Teacher offers outreach support. Children do not need an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) to access this provision, but they must be known to S&L Therapy. The child’s home school must apply through SENAT for placement in the Spring Term.

2. The Key Stage 2 morning Resource Base: 10 full time places. Children must have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) to be placed within this Resource Base. These children access mainstream learning every afternoon.

3. EYFS/KS1 Full Time Resource Base: ECHP is essential. Enquiries for placements are to be arranged through assessment coordinators and follow the Halton procedures.

4. KS2 Full Time Resource Base: ECHP is essential. Enquiries for placements are to be arranged through assessment coordinators and follow the Halton procedures.

All Resource Base pupils have termly reviews, one of which will be an annual review to determine next steps. All our bases support children with SLCN. We do however facilitate and encourage integration into mainstream as and when children are ready.
